The Camp Randall project was one of the best, if not the best, projects I have been associated with, from almost all facets. I attribute that directly to your Cullen Smith’s management and execution of the project, your interactions with the owner, and your dealings with your subcontractors… Your firm’s positive approach to the project was not just evident in a few individuals – I felt it from your company’s principals, project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel. I find this to be a rare occurrence, and I believe you should be congratulated for it.

C.D. Smith recognized for green building
Alliant Energy Awarded Prestigious LEED® Green Building Certification
Sheboygan, Wisconsin - C.D. Smith Construction, Inc. has announced that the recently built Alliant Energy Operations Center in Sheboygan has been awarded LEED® Gold established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
C.D. Smith provided construction services for Alliant Energy, constructing a 30,000 square foot operations center located in Sheboygan. The precast and steel building, which consists of both office and garage spaces offers a place for management services, technician offices, vehicle storage and maintenance, and a local response center. The building was awarded LEED® Gold certification for the green building efforts that were utilized during the construction process; specifically earning points for construction waste management, recycled content, the use of low-emitting materials and the innovation in the design of the building. By using less energy and water, LEED certified buildings save money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce green house gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.
“The strength of USGBC has always been the collective strength of our leaders in the building industry,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role of the building industry in that effort, C.D. Smith demonstrates their leadership through their LEED certification of Alliant Energy Operations Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.” LEED Certification of Alliant Energy was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community.
