With a very small campus staff, we had some considerable apprehensions about just how we would manage this very large project in a very short time – and it has, indeed, been challenging – but professionalism and consideration consistently shown by our C.D. Smith managers have made it manageable – and even at times, a pleasure. I would enthusiastically recommend C.D. Smith as general contractors, especially (given our very positive experience with our project) for an educational institution.

C.D. Smith Construction Safety Program

The purpose of the C.D. Smith Safety Program is to provide policy and guidelines to eliminate all injuries by providing the safest possible workplace. The prevention of injuries is the first and primary consideration of this program. C.D. Smith Construction strictly enforces its Safety Program to ensure a safe working environment for all workers and site visitors.

The program assigns responsibility and outlines actions and methods which will reduce and/or eliminate manpower and monetary losses resulting from accidents, thus providing efficient utilization of resources and advancing the effectiveness by which the company’s construction projects will be completed.

It is also the purpose of the Safety Program to provide policy and guidelines to bring about compliance with the provisions of the Occupation Safety and Health Act and any other federal , state or local safety codes that may apply.

Through the diligent effort of management, supervisors and all employees, C.D. Smith Construction has become a leader in practices of construction safety. Our company has most recently received the 2009 Safety Excellence Award from the Association of General Contractors of Wisconsin (AGC). This award sets us apart from the majority of other general contractors.

C.D. Smith Construction continues to improve upon our safety record by continuously training our workforce regarding the ever changing codes and regulations for our industry. C.D. Smith employs the help of union hall, AGC of WI, yearly meetings with supervisors and management, monthly bulletins, weekly newsletters and weekly tool box talks to keep all employees informed of safety concerns.
