Building community is the foundation of WHO WE ARE as an organization. That's why we encourage investing in the communities in which we live, work and play. Many C.D. Smith team members serve as board members, officials or volunteers in support of local organizations. Ben Roepke's story of giving back is a perfect example.
Ben has been an active member of the New Holstein Lions Club since 2012. Although he volunteers for most of the club's events, he is most involved with their biggest raffle of the year--the Big Bucks Raffle. He serves on the planning committee for this event and spends many hours volunteering, organizing raffle items and promoting ticket sales.
On June 14, Ben spent his day at the 22nd Annual New Holstein Lions Club Golf Outing at Hickory Hills Golf Course in Chilton, WI. The outing consisted of 28 foursomes enjoying golf, lunch, bucket raffles, 50/50 ticket sales and mini-games on the course. The event raised over $4,700 for the New Holstein Lions Club, the club's third-largest fundraiser!
The money raised stays local and is reinvested in the New Holstein community, including the New Holstein Senior Citizens Center, New Holstein Boy Scouts, New Holstein Community Chest, New Holstein Fire Department and First Responders, New Holstein High School Scholarship Program and New Holstein Leo Club.
Funds also support Wisconsin Lions Camp for the Handicapped, Diabetic Youth and Blind at Rosholt, Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center, Lions Hearing Air Program, and the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin through the Lions International programming.
Ben was excited to use the Give Back Days program to support the golf outing and his club during the workday. When Ben isn't working or volunteering, you will find him in nature! He loves spending time on the water, in the woods or at the grill!
