Building a Four Season Commercial Greenhouse for Wisconsin Conditions

Written by Molly Haack | Jul 9, 2026 1:20:29 AM

Grande Cheese Company, one of the world's leading cheesemakers and a longtime C.D. Smith client, expanded its Wisconsin corporate campus with a custom four-season greenhouse designed to perform throughout every season.

Commercial greenhouses support year-round plant growth despite seasonal climate changes while complementing broader campus operations and aesthetics. This project combined durable construction, integrated climate controls and skilled masonry to create a greenhouse built for Wisconsin conditions.

What This Project Delivered

  • Custom four-season commercial greenhouse designed for year-round use
  • Matching stone maintenance building supporting greenhouse operations
  • Integrated thermal controls for consistent climate performance
  • Skilled masonry that complements the Grande Cheese campus

A Custom Greenhouse Built for Wisconsin Conditions

A custom 700-square-foot greenhouse was constructed with a stone exterior to protect and showcase greenery throughout the year. Integrated thermal controls ensure consistent temperature regulation in every season.

A Functional Extension of the Campus

In addition, a matching 400-square-foot stone garage was built to accommodate heavy equipment and maintenance supplies, creating a cohesive and functional extension of the campus.

Craftsmanship in Every Detail

C.D. Smith Construction was selected to manage and construct the project. Skilled masons carefully installed decorative stonework, delivering an aesthetic that complements both structures while maintaining durability and craftsmanship.

From projects large to small, C.D. Smith partners with clients to deliver quality results on time and on budget.
