"I have a passion for building things," Zach Bond shares when asked about how he got into construction. Zach has been in the construction industry for 24 years, 21 of which have been with C.D. Smith. As a Carpenter Superintendent, Zach enjoys working with his hands and building relationships. Currently, Zach is working at Sellery Hall, a multi-phase student housing renovation project for UW-Madison.
Karl Winkelman is also currently working at Sellery Hall as a Laborer Foreman. "I enjoy being versatile. As Labor Foreman, we do any task that is put in front of us - it keeps things interesting," Karl shares. Karl joined C.D. Smith in 2014 and has over 24 years of experience in the construction industry as well. "I got into construction because I had a knack for building things. But more than anything, I enjoy watching an empty lot become a high-rise building and take pride in telling my kids, 'I built that.'"

In his free time, Zach enjoys spending time with his wife, Carrie, and three kids, Isaac, Lizzie, and Ava. He is a Packers fan (of course) and coaches his son's football team. Outside of work and family, Zach's hobbies include hunting, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling.
Karl enjoys camping and hobby farming with his wife, Amy, two sons, Trevor and Brady, and daughter, Ellie. On summer afternoons, Karl can be found cheering his sons on at a Watertown Storm Youth Baseball game. Karl also is a proud supporter of the Jefferson County 4-H program and volunteers his time as a Committee Member and Sheep Representative for the Meat Animal Project (MAP) Committee for the Ixonia Victory Chapter.
Thank you, Zach, for sharing your passion for working with your hands and building relationships at C.D. Smith. And Karl, your versatility and love for construction perfectly represent adaptability and getting projects done right! We appreciate your dedication and representation of Who We Are!
