On May 22nd, a group of C.D. Smith team members spent a sunny, warm Saturday morning enjoying the weather and volunteering for a great cause! Girls on the Run Fond du Lac County is an organization that inspires girls to know and activate their limitless potential. As part of the program's final celebration, the girls and their running buddies run a 5K! Our volunteers were able to serve as course marshals and hand out waters for the runners along the course. It was a great day filled with encouragement, smiles and lots of laughs!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to introduce my daughter, Marci, to Girls on the Run Fond du Lac at a young age. Although we cannot contribute in large financial ways, we are ALWAYS able to give our time and talents!
Please don't take my word on why volunteering is great. Instead, read what the other team members had to share below.
Project Manager Sara Wright shared, "GOTR is an amazing program, and race day is so exciting for all. I was happy to keep the runners on the course and direct traffic while also encouraging and cheering them on. The energy at the finish line was inspiring!"
"I chose to volunteer to help with GOTR," said Sara Krumenauer, Project Accountant, "because back in 2018, my stepdaughter participated in the program. She chose me to be her running partner, and it was an incredible bonding experience for the two of us. I love that GOTR helps young girls come together and support each other in reaching their goals."
Lindsey Petersen, Project Coordinator, and her daughter, Brynnlee, joined the volunteers for a quick photo before joining their team of runners. "Some may think GOTR is just a running program," Lindsey shared, "but it is so much more than that. The GOTR program really boosted Brynnlee’s confidence and reassured her that she can do anything she wants, as long as she puts in the hard work and effort behind it. For me, it was seeing Brynnlee’s confidence and self-esteem grow throughout the program. It was amazing to see these young ladies bond and build a team together and accomplish something they never thought was possible at the beginning of the program."
