Building a Stronger Future for Cancer Care in Fond du Lac

SSM Health has begun a significant expansion of its Cancer Care facility at 480 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. The $15 million, 12,000-square-foot project strengthens access to local, comprehensive cancer care by bringing medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion services and supportive therapies together under one roof.

This construction updates page will track major milestones from groundbreaking through future progress and reflect SSM Health’s 30-year commitment to serving patients across more than 29 Wisconsin counties.

What This Expansion Means for the Community

  • A 12,000-square-foot expansion adds space for medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion and supportive care services.
  • All major cancer care services will be unified in a single, centrally located facility.
  • The expansion enhances convenience, reduces travel and improves care coordination.
  • The project builds on three decades of community-focused, locally delivered cancer care.
  • Construction is underway and the expanded facility is expected to open in early 2027.

Groundbreaking | November 2025

A major milestone for cancer care in the Fond du Lac region

On November 5, 2025, SSM Health leaders, caregivers, construction partners and community members gathered to break ground on the expansion of the Cancer Care facility at 480 E. Division Street. The event marked the official start of a $15 million, 12,000-square-foot expansion that will strengthen local access to comprehensive cancer care for patients and families across the region.

For more than 30 years, the Division Street location has served as the area’s only accredited cancer center, supporting patients from more than 29 Wisconsin counties. The expansion builds on this legacy and reinforces SSM Health’s long-standing commitment to community-based care and a more connected patient experience.

Why this expansion matters for the community

Cancer affects people from every walk of life. The ability to receive care close to home reduces emotional strain, financial burden and time spent traveling. When complete, the expanded facility will bring the full continuum of care into one coordinated, modern location, including:

  • Medical oncology
  • Radiation oncology
  • Infusion and anticoagulation services
  • Nutrition and supportive therapies
  • Physical therapy and massage therapy
  • Social work, pastoral care and palliative care
  • Healing and reflection spaces

By consolidating these services under one roof, patients experience more coordinated care, reduced travel and improved health outcomes.

Designed with community input

SSM Health incorporated extensive feedback from physicians, caregivers, patients and families throughout the planning process. Their input shaped decisions related to comfort, privacy, daylighting, workflow and healing spaces. The expanded facility includes:

  • 12,000 square feet of new clinical and supportive space
  • A warm, natural interior design with significant daylight
  • A new welcoming entry and improved arrival experience
  • Four private infusion rooms and twenty semi-private infusion spaces
  • A healing garden for rest and reflection
  • Additional parking
  • On-site lab, pharmacy and supportive therapies
  • Family lounges and nourishment areas

During the invocation, Mission Integration Director Elle Yeates described the site as “sacred ground,” emphasizing the hope and comfort this center has delivered and will continue to deliver to families throughout the region.

A collaboration decades in the making

Cancer care has been a cornerstone of the Division Street campus since 1994. Over time, SSM Health has expanded services, invested in new technology and grown care teams to improve local access to compassionate, comprehensive cancer treatment.

This expansion reflects a 30-year legacy of care, long-term planning to meet community needs, collaboration across clinical teams and local partners and ongoing support from the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation.
