Volunteer of the Year Award:
Mark & Missy Steffes

Mark and Missy Steffes have been involved with the Agri-Business Council for nearly 10 years. Their involvement is widespread, from hosting Breakfast on the Farm in 2010 at their family farm, Hillside Dairy, to serving on the Ag Showcase and Ag Ambassador committees. If there’s an Agri-Business Council event, you will undoubtedly find Mark and Missy there volunteering.

Missy has been employed by C.D. Smith Construction for over 20 years, most recently as an Operations Manager. Her personal dedication carries over into her career where she is heavily involved in the company’s social responsibility and community outreach activities. She’s an active member on the Voice Committee, Foundation Committee and gives extra time to helping cross functional teams succeed.

Mark began farming with his parents in 1989, and in 2009 expanded to the current operation of 260 cows and 600 acres. His dedication and commitment to the family farm is nothing short of outstanding.

The family is also involved with the New Holstein FFA and New Holstein FFA Alumni. Missy is currently the Alumni President.

Mark and Missy are involved in teaching in the religious education program and volunteering at the Parish Festival for St. Isadore the Farmer Catholic Parish.

Volunteers are ordinary people with extraordinary hearts. They offer the gift of their time to teach, to listen, to build, to grow and to learn. They expect no pay, yet the value of their work knows no limit. They’ve known the unexpected joy of a simple hug. They’ve planted tiny seeds of love in countless lives. Volunteers are people who reach out and take a hand and together make a difference.

The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.
