My construction project is a neighborhood of 5 houses made of Legos. Each house is unique because they are each a different color, and the furniture matches the color of each house. They all attach to the main street and each have a yard and family.

My LEGO creation is a fun soccer game that was really hard to make. How it works is a lever you pull back and it pushes forward the marble into the goal. There were two hard parts in the process. The first one was trying to find the pieces. The other hard part was making sure when you push the lever forward the leg would also move forward and not just stay there. The thing that makes this build unique is that it isn’t like a LEGO house where it just stays there, it actually moves! And it is a fun game. I had tons of fun making this build!

Keegan Wittkamp

My name is Keegan Wittkamp. The project I did was a house that was under construction. They are adding a garage to the house. It was fun to build. I also added a sign in the front yard just like the one I have at my house. Hope you like it.

It's cool because it is a planter box and you can plant flowers which fits right in with Mother's day!! I got to work with my brother and Dad and that was fun. It was also fun to learn how to use a miter saw, a nail gun and how to make a planters box. It was fun te get out and not do homework and video games.

My name is Adrianna Smith. I am 10 years old. I decided to submit this gazebo because I like building stuff. I built this gazebo from popsicle sticks and hot glue. I had to measuer and cut some of the popsicle sticks. I had a few different ideas for the roof but went with this one. I would like a gazebo on my pond just like this one. My gazebo is very stable and it looks comfortable. It will provide shade from the sun and protect from the rain. I hope you like my creation.

For my project I built a jaguar home in my sandbox. I used a bunch of materials to put it all together like sand, water, rocks, wood, pine tree branches and sticks. I think it is unique because I used a lot of my materials from nature and animals could live in it if it was bigger.

For this challenge I built a Lego mosaic. I bet you noticed it was the logo for Jurassic Park. I chose that logo because I really like the movies, I have a lot of Jurassic World sets, and I have always liked dinosaurs. I have liked Lego for a long time. most of my brothers and sisters like Lego too. I have all types of Lego sets on my shelf. This year on Christmas I got all Lego no other toys, only Lego. I got two big space sets and two big Jurassic World sets. My shelf is full with Lego, and the shelf is divided into three parts. I put the Jurassic Park sets on the bottom, the Lego Ninjago sets in the middle and space stuff on the top. I love Lego.

I’m Annette and This is what I built. I built a Lego Farm. I built a Barn and in front of it there is a farmer picking up a carrot from the garden. I also made a fence penthouse with a horse eating hay with a groundskeeper taking care of the horse. I also built a shop with people selling food that was made in the farm and distributed to the shop. I even built a tree with apples growing from it and it has a cat stuck on the tree. In conclusion farms are important because if we have no farms we wouldn’t have any food like fruits, dairy, meat, vegetables, and we won’t have any oxygen from the flowers. I hope you like my farm and thank you for bring up this contest.

This building once was Cafe Lulu's until the aliens invaded. The sidewalk got destroyed and they released the beast. A giant man-spider attacked from the side of the building and stairs. At the front of the building you see a mutant Komodo dragon. Behind the counter is an employee that is a skeleton. On the other side is a headless and legless soldier on a web getting attacked by baby spiders. In the front I used railings as the frames for the building and for the counter I used a couple of 2x4s. The building was a one story building with a very secure sign that had lots of color and attracted people. When the creatures came, the building was destroyed and ended up with four stories. There are bits of twisted battleship throughout the project, including two wings and thruster.

My building is a 3 story house. It’s meant to be what I want my house to be like when I grow up! It’s very unlikely that it will end up being my house but you never know! My building is unique because it has a wall dedicated to a dog were very animal friendly over here! In the first story bathroom there is no window due to tornado hazards because there isn’t a basement. The kitchen is my favorite place because I think the color coordination is pretty.

My name is Emma and I am 11 years old. My projects is an ammusement park. I made a entrance and a train that goes around the park. I made a bathroom with a poop emoji next to the food. There is a drop ride thing and a tire swing that I made with tape, legos and hard bands. There is a round ride, a beach and a pet area.

I built my box fort mansion out of cardboard. I used cardboard sheets to make the walls and roof. I used cardboard to make support beams to hold up the ceilings. I used duct tape to connect the pieces. Inside I hung Christmas lights in both rooms for decoration and lighting. I used cardboard boxes to make tables. The media room has a TV and a beanbag and a blanket to sit on to watch movies. There is a tornado lava lamp on a cardboard table. The lights in the media room can change colors too. In the sleeping quarters there are two beds and pillows, and a small box table to hold your phones and alexa. It took about 3 days to complete the mansion. On day one, I built the structure. On day two, I hung the lights and brought in the TV. On day three, I added the accessories like the sleeping bags and tables. My favorite things to do in my fort is to relax on my phone or to have sleepovers in it.

Hi, my name is Eljay Smith, I am 11 years old. My project is a bridge. I always thought the way bridges were designed and build was fascinating. For this project, I used popsicle sticks and a hot glue gun. I designed my bridge to be very strong and sturdy. We have tested its strength with a laptop, a lamp and some other items. It was able to hold a lot of weight!

I chose to build a drawbridge with a castle including a launchpad. I used twine, cardboard, duct tape, spray paint, hot glue gun. My rocket was homemade too, except for the engine. Me and my brother made the wadding for the rocket so the parachute won’t burn up. I used paper towel rolls, hot glue, cardboard, a paperclip and spray paint for the rocket.

My House made of legos and was very black and white, with some designer finishes. One of my favorite parts was all of the different lights I created. Another thing I really loved were all of the windows. I also loved the living room because the tv could be turned, and the stain glass window. The puppy pen was one of my favorites because it had a very nice corner with windows and a spacious cage. Lastly, my door was a big part because it had black lines and very cool.

To make my house, I used cardboard, popsicle sticks, styrofoam, masking tape, felt, tacky glue, decorative tape, paint, Sharpie and an empty container. I designed one room at a time, and then assembled the final house. The bottom floor is the kitchen. There are blue and gold walls, a pink floor, an oven, a table, two chairs, and a fridge. The second floor has a bathroom and a bedroom. In the bathroom, are a toilet, a sink, a bathtub, a rug, and blue walls with a yellow floor. On the left side of the second floor is a bedroom. For the bedding, I hand sewed a blanket and two pillows. Also in the bedroom, there are a closet and some under-the-bed storage, and a poster for decoration. The third floor is the living room. In the living room, there are a couch, a chair, a coffee table, and a fireplace. The chimney leads all the way up through the attic to the roof. The fourth floor attic also serves as an extra bedroom. There are two bunk beds; one has under-the-bed storage. You can also see a little bit of the chimney peaking through. Parked outside the house is a golden car. It has four seats, a steering wheel that turns, and wheels that really roll. The house took me over two weeks to finish. I had fun making it, but now I have a gigantic mess to clean up!

Kaden, Blake, and Jack are all neighbors. During quarantine time they like to spend most of their time outdoors. All 3 boys like hunting and fishing. To make good use of their free time they wanted to build something purposeful. The found some scrap material and decided to build a duck blind. They research some designs and started building.Their design even includes a custom made door, bench and gun holder. A generous donor offered paint to give their masterpiece the finishing touch. Not only did the boys had fun but they constructed something they will have even more fun putting to use.

Over the weekend my family held a Lego challenge. The challenge was to build a dream room that told a story about the mini-figure I chose, Mr. Video Gamer. Mr. Video Gamer has a pretty sweet room. If you were to walk into this room, you would hear water running, looking to the left you would see a giant custom-made waterfall. Looking around the room a bit, you would also see he has all his trophies from winning video game competitions on display for you and other people to view. As you continue to walk, you would enter the back of the room and the sound of a waterfall fades to sounds of explosions, blaster shooting and light sabers slicing! You have entered the space where Mr. Video Gamer plays the video games. You would probably realize there is a big sign that says, shh video game in progress. Which seems weird because he plays with surround sound in the room but wears a headset too. On both sides of the TV there are two big black statue horses. He has those because his gamer tag name is Stallion Gaming. Mr. Video Gamer likes to keep his two biggest trophies by his side. He won those in his last two Star Wars tournaments. You’d join a group of people watching him because he is playing in one of the biggest Lego video game tournaments ever! Those people are his friends in the Lego community and are silently cheering him on, because he likes it quite when he plays the game. Again, seems weird, but that is what he likes! Now to the actual video game! I bet you realized that there are Star Wars characters on the other side of the wall. If you were watching from Mr. Video Gamers view, you would realize that when the video gamer plays his game the characters on the other side come to life. He is playing as the Jedi and the gamer he is playing against is the Dark Side. If he wins this tournament, he will become the greatest Lego video gamer of all time! So far he is doing really good, but he has a few more storm troopers to defeat, including the captain with the giant laser.

My house is very unique and one of a kind. The walls are made out of wood found in the garage. The frame of the roof is made out of straws, wooden dowels and cardboard. The porch is made out of leftover wood from the house, string, and wooden dowels for the posts of the porch. For the clothesline, I found sticks from outside, string, and mini clothes pins from hanging up pictures. For the bed, I used twigs from outside for the frame of the bed and the posts, black and white yarn to act as the blanket, and part of a cotton ball as a pillow. For the table I used sticks and for chairs I used styrofoam and painted them brown. And for the rest of the furniture and used strips of wood. It’s a wooden shelf and on it are sheets of colored construction paper and an origami swan. The tv and the pictures are made of paper and the windows are made out of pictures and strings.

During the first month of 2020 we discovered that the foundation of our house is slowly sinking. This has led us to make the decision to tear the back of our house out. So what I did for this challenge was re-design the back of our house and change it. I added two rooms to our house. One room will be a gaming room, soundproofed so if anybody screams cuz they lost they won’t be heard as much. The other is the guest room where guests will stay and sleep. We don't have one of those in our current house and I figured we could build one. So that’s my entry for the C.D Smith Challenge.

I made this house using floor planner. I enjoyed designing this house with some unique features. Some of my favorites are the pool with a boat and jet ski, the huge garage for all my vehicles and the giant playground in my yard. The house also has an entry way, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office, living room, kitchen and dining room and a laundry room.

My Project reminds me of a lakeside room or something people would live in near a beach. The project has a day bed, fish tank, lamp, TV, and wall lights. I made it out of a coffee tin to have a circle kind of room. The reason why i have lights throughout the room is because just to give it more decorations. My day bed is there because it has a nice filling of it and it looks cute. Next is the big TV is there because I wished I had a big TV in my room. Another way it reminds me of an lakeside house is because it looks like it belongs to the sea. Also the reason for the shells on the outside is because they remind me when I went to Florida and had a lot of fun. The last reason why it is blue is because it’s my favorite color so it kinda is like my dream room. So I hope you like my project of my little room.

I built a decorative defense tower in Minecraft. It's only meant as decoration but it can tell a story of a small group of people have inhabited the ancient tower and end up defending it from attackers. I even added armor stands to help show that this is what has happened. Please forgive the fact that there's nothing surrounding the tower because I had no idea as to what I should build around it. I would like to add that on the very bottom floor (that I chose not to show), there is a small scene of a guy stabbing another guy but I wasn't sure if that would be appropriate to show even though it's not all that intense.

My lego creation that I made was a candy dispenser. My inspiration for this project was that I have always wanted to make a working candy dispenser but never had the time and effort. We are in this crisis and have all the time in the world. What better time than now. I would describe my piece as interactive, fun and enjoyable. After all of the time that has gone into this creation it was definitely worth it. My piece is very interactive. This is because I can actually play with it. I can move the pieces around and candy will come out. Another reason is that I can rebuild it and change out the colors. The last reason is that I can eat the E'm E'ms. You can use this to entertain guests and have a nice little desert. My creation is very enjoyable. It is enjoyable because I can eat some of my creations. Another reason is that I get to pull the lever. The last reason is that I can know that I made this project. You can use your imagination and add whatever you want. My invention is very fun. My invention is fun because I get to put whatever I want inside of the machine. Another reason is that I can rearrange this to make it bigger and or different designs. The last reason is because there is no right or wrong way to build this. In the end you can do whatever you want with your creation. As you can see my project is enjoyable, fun and interactive. My inspiration came from wanting to make this and committing to one thing. It is so fun creating and designing a project. Not only do I have a cool machine but in the end you have some nice candy at the end.

For our presentation, we decided to construct a windmill. A windmill is a structure that converts wind power into rotational energy by the vanes which are also called sails or blades. Windmills were specifically made to mill grain or pump water. The earliest know windmill was created in 1854 and was used by the Persians. The first windmill manufactured in the U.S. was designed by Daniel Halladay. He began creating windmills in 1854 in his machine shop located in Connecticut. The very first electricity-generating windmill was created in 1888, in Cleaveland, Ohio, by Charles F. Brush. The windmill was one of the first man-made methods of power generation. The windmill has a lot of history and proves to be very helpful and efficient. We got the inspiration to build a windmill from C.D. Smith's office building. Their building is very eco friendly and helps the environment immensely. The impact of going green they have had on the surrounding community includes the following; They are improving air and water quality, reducing waste from streams, conserving and restoring natural resources, and enhancing and protecting biodiversity and ecosystems. Modern-day windmills that are used today to capture wind and create electrical power are called wind turbines. Modem-day windmills are thin, sleek structures made out of steel or aluminum. They have three blades made of fiberglass, reinforced polyester, or wood-epoxy. Modern-day windmills can be as tall as 90 meters tall, but there are also smaller wind turbines for business or residential use. Windmills immensely help our environment for the following reasons a clean fuel source and do not pollute the air. Power plants rely on the combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal and natural gas. The resources they use are nonrenewable and once gone cannot be attained again. The fuels they use also pollute our air and can cause low air quality. Power plants also produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain and greenhouse gasses. Windmills do not cause any pollutants they only use natural resources (wind) to push their turbines and create power. Windmills are usually grouped into large collections of units to produce electricity. Where the large groups are placed are called wind fanns. They are usually placed in agricultural areas where large plots of land are available and away from any agricultural activity that may be disturbed by the windmill. They are often located in windy parts of the country, but can also be placed offshore to take advantage of winds that sweep over various bodies of water. Some great benefits to windmills and wind energy are; it is cost-effective, creates jobs, enables U.S. industry growth and U.S. competitiveness, a clean fuel source, a domestic source of energy, it is sustainable, can be built on existing farms and ranches. These are some of the many benefits you can get out of windmills. this is why windmills are a good option when considering going green.

My project is unique because I have drawn both the inside and outside view of what the Roman colosseum looks like. In the side view I labeled which parts of the colosseum that different groups of people sat at. In my drawings you can see the structure of the colosseum and see the amount of work that the Romans must have had to put in. The layers upon layers of construction is why we need to see the importance of the colosseum. The hard work that was put into this structure is something we can all have a sense of value in.

This project is important to me because it allows me to design a shed. Eventually I will be able to have it get built. The designs show what it will look like, so I can have a general idea of how it will be. Building a shed using these drawings will be easier, so if I have ideas I can add them to my drawing. I can talk and show people the plans and they can see how nice it is going to be. Building a shed will allow me to store things in it, and I will have more space. My practice in making these drawings could potentially help me with a job in the future. This will help me with other projects, and I can become better at making more drawings on the computer. I learn as I go and I find out how to make and do the different things which will benefit me. I like development and construction, so this project goes along with it. When construction is happening, I stay updated and always want to know what is going on and what will be occurring in the future in our community and other places. I enjoy seeing all the different things and places that would make Fond du Lac a better city. The shed I created is my first project, and I hope this is the start of many to come.
