C.D. Smith served as General Contractor on the Grande Cheese Office and Plant Expansion in Juda, Wisconsin. The project included a new 27,000-square-foot, two-story office building featuring reception areas, employee workspaces, a large meeting and breakroom area with a custom stained polished concrete floor, employee kitchen, clinic and fitness center.

Connecting people and production

Exterior improvements included an outdoor patio with custom stamped concrete, additional parking and a stamped retaining wall. The project also featured an enclosed walkway connecting the whey and cheese plants, along with eight separate plant additions, including silo, brine and starter room expansions.

The improvements enhanced employee amenities and expanded plant operations while maintaining uninterrupted production throughout the 18-month construction schedule. C.D. Smith self-performed concrete, steel, masonry, stone veneer and finish carpentry.

Through value engineering, the project scope expanded to include a fitness center and clinic while remaining on schedule and on budget.
