Boys & Girls Club of Tri-County Area | Ripon Building Project Updates
Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area Breaks Ground to Begin Construction at Future Ripon Site
On Tuesday, April 30, the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area held a groundbreaking ceremony for the future home of its first facility in Ripon. You can visit their new landing page (https://bgctric.org/followripon/) to learn more or check out the summary below:
WHY IT MATTERS | Positive Impacts + A Brighter Future
The Boys & Girls Club's philosophy centers around fostering a positive environment. Youth will have access to educational classes, hot meals, and basic needs programs, ensuring their well-being is holistically addressed. This translates into much-needed support for working families, ensuring their children have safe and nurturing environments.
STATE-OF-THE ART AMENITIES | Comprehensive Facilities for Diverse Needs
The Boys & Girls Club in Ripon will offer after-school programs, full-time summer care and licensed childcare. But The Club's impact goes beyond childcare programming with a comprehensive approach to youth development. The new 40,000-square-foot, two-story facility is designed to cater to a wide range of needs and interests. It will feature:
» Full-Size Gymnasium: A space for physical activities, sports, and community events.
» Licensed Child Care Rooms: Safe, regulated spaces for young children.
» Skilled Trades Workshops: Facilities where teens can learn valuable trades skills to prepare for future employment.
» Teen Employment Center: A resource center helping teens with job placement and career development.
» Commercial Kitchen: Providing regular hot meals to members, ensuring no child goes hungry.
» Internet and Technology Access: Bridging the digital divide, giving youth access to modern technology and resources.
» Basic Needs Programs: Support for children who may lack basic necessities like clean clothes and personal hygiene facilities.
These programs are designed to empower youth and ensure they have the tools and support needed to achieve their full potential.
THE BIG PICTURE | Community Well-being
Beyond individual benefits, the Boys & Girls Club will have a profound impact on the community's overall well-being. Children will build strong friendships and develop a sense of belonging, fostering a spirit of respect, civility and courtesy. A consistently positive environment steers youth away from negative influences and towards constructive and rewarding activities, helping them become responsible, caring citizens.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT | Donors and Supporters
The realization of the Ripon Boys & Girls Club has been a community-wide effort, with significant contributions from various donors and supporters. The project’s total fundraising goal is $14 million, with nearly $13 million already secured. This includes not just construction costs but also operating expenses to ensure the Club’s sustainability.
WHAT'S NEXT | Looking Ahead
The groundbreaking ceremony was a testament to the collaborative spirit that has driven the project. It wouldn't have been possible without a collective effort and community support. Local government officials, community members, and donors gathered to celebrate the start of construction, reflecting the widespread commitment to the project.
The Boys & Girls Club of Ripon is more than just a building; it's a symbol of hope, opportunity, and a collective belief in every child's potential. The doors are set to open in the summer of 2025, and when they do, a new chapter will begin for Ripon's youth, filled with possibilities and a chance to make a lasting difference.
