Giving Back in Full Swing
In addition to changing the way many of us are spending our summers, the infamous coronavirus has had an impact on area non-profits and how these important organizations stay alive. Many non-profits are accustomed to large fundraising events that pack in the supporters and give them the biggest bang for their buck. With the continuously updated guidelines for social distancing, these highly social events have had to take on a whole new look.
In response, Envision Greater Fond du Lac has put a creative twist on their annual events. This year, we proudly supported the organization’s June Drive-Thru Ag-Venture and July Socially Distant Golf Outing.
C.J. Smith represented C.D. Smith at this year’s Golf Outing and commented on the adjustments made in response to the pandemic, “There was much less milling about and networking at the start of the outing, before heading out to the tees.” Other changes included foregoing the dinner and silent auction from the previous year. “Fist bumps replaced high fives and people were respectful of others’ space,” added C.J.
The event was well attended, and many golfers were encouraged by getting out on the course and participating in an event that felt somewhat normal. The beautiful weather contributed to a fun day and some great golfing. The winning team included Ryan Kamphuis (Bristol Morgan Bank), Jeff Nuss and Troy Nachreiner (Muthig Industries), and Matt Spaude (Arthur J Gallagher Risk Management) shooting an impressive 18 under par. How did C.J. do? “If I hadn’t aimed wrong, I would have had three holes-in-one!”
C.D. Smith had been a long-time supporter of the Fond du Lac Association of Commerce and the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation. When the two organizations combined to create Envision Greater Fond du Lac, our giving was made easier.
