Salute the Troops Receives $1250
C.D. Smith gives back $1250 to Salute the Troops, Inc!
Throughout the year, C.D. Smith employees find fun ways to raise money to give back to our communities. Recently, departments rivaled against each other in a gift basket competition.
Each department created a themed gift basket and then employees had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to put towards a chance at winning a basket. The basket who received the most raffle tickets would win bragging rights as the best basket and that department would get to select a charity of their choice to donate the raised money to.
For this competition, the C.D. Smith Accounting team won the title of the best gift basket. The total money raised added up to $1250! They selected Salute the Troops as the local charity of choice to give back to.
Alina Kraus, Senior Accountant, explains, "I come from a military family. My dad was a Marine, my brother served in the Army, and my nephew is in the Army National Guard. I have always been amazed by their strength, courage and humility. My brother served two tours in Iraq and when he returned after his second tour, he struggled with PTSD. I am so proud of him and wanted to find a cause that honors the sacrifices military men and women give to their country. That's why we selected Salute The Troops to give back to. I love the organization because it is a celebration of service members and their families."
