Grande Cheese | Office & Plant Expansion

C.D. Smith served as General Contractor on the Grande Cheese Office and Plant Expansion in Juda, Wisconsin. The project included a new 27,000-square-foot, two-story office building featuring reception areas, employee workspaces, a large meeting and breakroom area with a custom stained polished concrete floor, employee kitchen, clinic and fitness center.

Connecting people and production

The expansion reached beyond the new office building. Exterior improvements included an outdoor patio with custom stamped concrete, additional parking and a stamped retaining wall. An enclosed walkway connected the whey and cheese plants, while eight separate plant additions, including silo, brine and starter room expansions, increased operational capacity and supported future growth.

expanding while production continued

For 18 months, major construction unfolded alongside Grande’s active manufacturing operation. The work stretched across both sides of the facility, from the new 27,000-square-foot office building to eight separate plant additions and an enclosed walkway connecting the whey and cheese plants.

Each component had to fit into an operating facility without interrupting production. Grande continued manufacturing as C.D. Smith expanded the spaces supporting its employees and plant operations.

Self-performed expertise

From the office addition to the plant expansions, C.D. Smith self-performed a broad range of trades throughout the project including:
