A Modern Civic Hub for the Village of Kewaskum

C.D. Smith Construction served as Construction Manager at Risk for the Kewaskum Community Building, a new 23,150-square-foot government and community center located at 204 First Street in Kewaskum, Wisconsin.

Completed in May 2025, the facility replaces the village’s outdated mid-century hall on the same central downtown parcel and brings Village Hall operations, the Police Department and community gathering spaces together into one modern civic asset.

Centralizing Services in a Downtown Civic Anchor

Rather than relocating municipal functions, the Village of Kewaskum reinvested in its existing downtown site, strengthening its civic presence while improving how residents access services.

Bringing key functions under one roof creates a more efficient and accessible environment for both residents and staff, while reinforcing the downtown's role as a center of public life.

Designed for Community Use and Daily Operations

The two-story facility includes flexible community spaces that support public meetings, events and programming, encouraging ongoing civic participation.

The building integrates municipal operations with spaces designed for community use, supporting both day-to-day services and broader community engagement.

Built for Long-Term Performance

The building’s layout, systems and adaptable community spaces support evolving municipal needs. Updated site infrastructure, circulation and parking enhance long-term functionality and improve how the site performs as a core public asset.

The result is a facility designed to serve the Village of Kewaskum today while supporting future growth and changing community needs.

Awards + Recognition

The Kewaskum Community Building was named a finalist in the New Construction category of the 2026 Milwaukee Business Journal Real Estate Awards.

The recognition reflects the project’s role in modernizing a key civic asset, strengthening downtown Kewaskum and improving how residents access essential services.
