Project Update: Fond du Lac County Garage
The Fond du Lac County Garage that will provide key services throughout the winter months, is nearly complete. Currently, there are between 80 and 85 people on site each day to complete the work by the end of November. This includes nearly a dozen subcontractors as well as C.D. Smith employees.
Over the last few weeks, finishes are being completed including installing drywall, painting, sealing floors, mechanical and electrical finishes. The salt domes have been shingled as well, really making the project feel closer and closer to completion. The stonework on the planters is complete, curb and gutter are installed, site concrete work is ongoing and asphalt paving will start soon.
The sand/salt shed is the next large piece of the project to start. The building is scheduled to be completed within one month so the county can begin using it for the season.
The North Salt Dome, which is now shingled, is scheduled to be filled with salt. Each dome will hold 8,029 tons of salt to carry the county through the winter season with extra inventory in case of any extreme winter storms. The domes at this project are the largest size available, ensuring the county will have adequate storage space.
With just less than one month until turn over, the Fond du Lac County New Highway Garage will be completed on schedule just in time for December's inclement weather.
