From on-the-job experience to a professional journey That Spans three generations
Cliff Fisher, age 98 and now retired from C.D. Smith Construction, reflects on the time in 1973 when he relocated his family to Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a mason constructing the C.D. Smith project, Island Winds, two 13-story apartment buildings.

During those years, Cliff's son, Bob Fisher, vividly recalls the Florida days when his father would encourage him to 'come to work with me.' Bob embraced the opportunity and, during summers and after school, assumed the role of a laborer, gaining valuable on-the-job experience.
“I was told that I better not show up for work unless I was ready to work hard and earn my $9 per hour,” reminisces Bob.

Upon the family's return to Oakfield, both of Cliff's boys, Bob and George Fisher joined C.D. Smith on a full-time basis. George remembers working on projects with his dad, Cliff, and brother Bob, including K-mart and Pick 'n Save in Fond du Lac, various correctional institutions, and St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.
The Fisher brothers retired with fond memories of their years at C.D. Smith. The experience was not just a professional journey but a family legacy. A third generation of Fishers now works for C.D. Smith Construction and carries on the family tradition.
