C.D. Smith's Advanced Renovations Enhance Healthcare Education and Launch Construction Management Program
Marian University selected C.D. Smith Construction as construction manager for relocation of the Marian University School of Nursing. The move involved renovation of the first and second floors of the Stayer Center. This relocation strategically places nursing students closer to core-curricular science courses offered at the nearby Ridenour Science Center, also built by C.D. Smith.

The transformation included replacing lecture halls and gathering spaces with cutting-edge simulation laboratories, modern classrooms, and dedicated study areas.
Updates are designed to enhance the educational experience for nursing and health professions students.
The custom wall graphic featured in the children's room was printed by C.D. Smith's in-house Print Shop.
Project Highlights Include:
• Four simulation labs with dedicated focus on surgical nursing, pediatric care and OB-Gyn
• Observation rooms

The project began with a ‘wall breaking’ ceremony in August 2023, where both nursing and construction management students actively participated. This event also marked the inauguration of Marian University's Construction Management Program, symbolizing progress and breakthroughs for both academic paths.
The demolition bash at Marian University celebrated a new home for its Nursing Program in combination with the inauguration of the Construction Management Program.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Kathleen Candee, Retired Senior Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Relations, who served as the project manager, expressed appreciation for the hands-on learning experience provided by C.D. Smith professionals on campus. She noted, "You could often see Marian Construction Management students working alongside the core C.D. Smith crew. Having this hands-on learning experience on campus with dedicated professionals was a valuable opportunity."
