Rosendale-Brandon School District Hosts Groundbreaking at Laconia Construction Project

ROSENDALE, Wis. – (Apr. 16, 2024) – Rosendale-Brandon School District held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, to celebrate the start of construction for the Laconia Middle School and High School renovations and additions.

Superintendent Wayne Weber welcomed school staff, parents, the public and students. The event featured a brief program with comments from key individuals, including Dave Mertens, Sr. Project Manager with C.D. Smith; Nicholas Kent, Partner at Plunkett Raysich Architects (PRA); Beth Redeker, Board Member for Rosendale-Brandon School District (RBSD); Leanne Greff, Rosendale Intermediate School Principal; and Diane Raue, Laconia High School Principal

Principal Greff, Principal Raue, and eight student representatives from grades four to eleven kicked off the symbolic turning of the dirt, followed by Rosendale-Brandon School Board Members, School Administrators, and project team members from PRA and C.D. Smith. At the ceremony's conclusion, attendees from the crowd were invited to wear hard hats and pose with golden shovels to commemorate their personal experience at the event with a photo.

Heavy equipment was already on-site at a safe distance from observers, starting the groundwork for a strong foundation; the groundbreaking ceremony offered the community a glimpse of the exciting changes ahead for Laconia.

The expansion will increase space at Laconia to accommodate middle and high school students. Construction will be phased, starting with a new cafeteria and a high school classroom addition. Subsequent phases will bring a secure front entry, office space, gym and locker room additions, renovations to existing areas, building-wide maintenance, additional parking, and improved traffic flow.

Superintendent Wayne Weber and School Principals Leanne Greff and Diane Raue expressed their gratitude to the community. The expansion at Laconia will ensure optimal class sizes and provide students with modern learning spaces, paving the way for an even brighter future for the Rosendale-Brandon School District and its graduates.
