In November 2022, the Warbirds moved into their new 2,800 SF locker room at Blue Line Family Ice Center in Fond du Lac, WI. The addition houses a private locker room for the maroon and gold team and a secondary locker area for junior division female athletes.
Blue Line has a long-standing presence in Fond du Lac. Dating back to the 1920s, the men’s hockey team gathered in one of two outdoor rinks at Goodrich High School to practice and play. The current structure built on the Fond du Lac County fairgrounds was completed in 1966. This was the first time the Fond du Lac Bears and youth hockey went indoors.
Over the last decade, more young women have gained interest in competitive hockey. However, the facility lacked space for the Warbirds female youth club.
In spring 2021, fundraising efforts for the renovation project began. Ground broke in June 2022, and less than five months later, the new addition of the high school girls' locker room and two smaller locker rooms for the younger divisions were complete.
Each locker room is outfitted with private bathrooms and showers, with high school girls' locker rooms featuring individual cubbies for each player to store their skates, jerseys and other personal items.
This job was completed in five months and came in under budget. We SMITH’D IT!
