Sheboygan Water Utility - Raw Water Pump Station
The Sheboygan Water Utility embarked on an extensive initiative to rejuvenate its raw water infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in the utility's history since 1959. C.D. Smith Construction was chosen as the primary contractor for this ambitious, multi-phase project.
The existing 30-inch intake and shore well had surpassed their typical 100-year service life, prompting the need for improvements. This project enhanced the intake capacity to meet both maximum and average daily demand while addressing vulnerabilities such as winter icing, runoff, and flood risks in the low-lift pump station. During construction, 220 tons of rebar were incorporated, and 2,479 cubic yards of concrete were poured.
This extensive project ensures a reliable supply of water to approximately 60,500 residents in Sheboygan County.
Features include:
- 4,250 SF Pump-House
- 252,860 +/- Gallon Wet Wall Tank
- 60” Diameter Pre-stressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe
- 6,500 foot-long Lake Michigan Intake Pipe
- 400 foot-long Future Intake Pipe Stub
