C.D. Smith was hired to provide preconstruction, construction management and general contracting services for Marinette School District's $30.9 million successful referendum. The referendum projects consolidate operations from six buildings to four, allowing the District to operate more efficiently while continuing to provide exceptional educational programming.

One of the projects involved a large addition and renovations to the existing Merryman Elementary School, now known as Marinette Primary School, which serves 4K-1st grade students. The 29,900 SF addition and 2,650 SF renovation features classrooms and collaboration areas, a large activity room, administrative offices, a kitchen and cafeteria, enrichment space and a student services office. 

Upgrades to the existing facility included finishing a complete roof replacement, masonry sealing and tuckpointing, asphalt sealing and repairs, water main replacement and playground equipment replacement.

MARINETTE—The Marinette School District Rightsizing project is on schedule to be finished by the start of the next school year.

Marc McGuire of C.D. Smith Construction, the company handling the project, told the board that during the month of February the crew had finished hanging and finishing drywall. “We have started painting; we’re about 40% done at Merryman Elementary,” he said.
