Winners Announced for 2022 BUILD Wisconsin Awards
The BUILD Wisconsin Award winners for 2022 have been announced and C.D. Smith received four awards. The details of each award are provided below. Congratulations to all the team members involved in these projects - we couldn't have done it without you!
The BUILD Wisconsin Awards program is open to all AGC of Wisconsin General Contractor and Specialty Contractor Members in good standing. The Awards stand as a testament to each member’s skill, integrity, hard work, ingenuity, and commitment that goes into each commercial construction project. Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges assembled by the AGC of Colorado and were based upon four (4) primary criteria: Sustainable Practices, Craftsmanship, Innovation, and Meeting Difficult Challenges.
Winning C.D. Smith Projects
St. Francis Monastery Renovation & Addition
Historical Preservation Award
The St. Francis Monastery Renovation & Addition, completed in Milwaukee in December 2021, received the Historical Preservation Award, which recognizes a project team that took an active role in preserving and protecting the integrity of a historic structure.
Poplar Hall at RiverHeath, completed in Appleton in August 2021, was recognized in two categories.
Technology & Innovative Practices Awards
The Technology & Innovative Practices Award is bestowed upon the project team that best utilized innovative technologies, practices and methodologies throughout the construction process, the positive impact they made, and how they helped elevate industry standards. These may include, but are not limited to: Software/Hardware, Construction Applications, Equipment/Materials, Processes and Programs.
Poplar Hall, which tied for the award with the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton Observation Room, was selected for its use of mass timber and energy-efficient features.
General Contractor – Commercial Projects – New Construction
Award categories for General Contractor awards are based on project contract amounts. Poplar Hall received a Commercial Project - New Construction award in the Less than $5M category. Selections are made based on project information provided, including unique craftsmanship, difficult challenges, community & client impact and sustainable practices & innovation.
Acuity North Parking Structure & Fieldhouse
General Contractor – Commercial Projects – New Construction
The Acuity North Parking Structure & Fieldhouse project also received a Commercial Project - New Construction award in the $15M to $50M category. Selections are made based on project information provided, including unique craftsmanship, difficult challenges, community & client impact and sustainable practices & innovation.
