Pulaski Community School District prioritizes safety & modernization with comprehensive renovations and Additions
C.D. Smith Construction crews were busy Summer 2023, on the completion of interior renovations at the Pulaski Community School District, a component of the $69.8 million referendum approved by voters in November 2022. The renovations encompassed essential updates and enhancements at Lannoye, Fairview, Glenbrook Elementary, particularly focusing on restroom facilities and interior aesthetics.

Expansion initiatives are now under way at Hillcrest and Sunnyside Elementary Schools, and an addition of a Tech Ed wing at Pulaski High School. The community participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sunnyside Elementary School addition, with attendees including staff, parents, students, and members of the public wearing their C.D. Smith Construction hard hats. The ceremony featured a short program, the symbolic turning of the soil, and performances by the Pulaski High School Red Raiders Marching Band.

The renovation plans for Sunnyside Elementary School involve a comprehensive overhaul of the existing 64,000-square-foot building and upgrades to plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Additionally, a new 45,000-square-foot addition will house a state-of-the-art library, specialized learning spaces for 4K, kindergarten, and first-grade students, a modernized kitchen, a Student Collaboration Hub, and a secure main entrance linked to a spacious, well-lit cafeteria. Ensuring student safety remains paramount, with revised traffic patterns enhancing safety and accessibility in the drop-off/pick-up area.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Pulaski High School Tech Ed addition marked the beginning of construction on a 6,000-square-foot learning space designed to accommodate automotive, metals and wood shops. This space will effectively double the current one and provide students with hands-on learning experiences.

Looking ahead, C.D. Smith will begin construction on the Hillcrest Elementary School project, which includes a 55,000-square-foot addition and 49,000 square feet of renovations. This comprehensive makeover will include HVAC and MEP upgrades, onsite parking reconfiguration, and the construction of essential facilities such as a cafeteria, classrooms, library, collaboration areas, and a gymnasium. The expansion aims to meet the evolving needs of the burgeoning community, effectively doubling the facility's size.
Completion of the district refresh is slated for 2025.
