Pulaski Community School District Breaks Ground on Hillcrest Elementary Project
HOBART, Wis. – (Mar. 20, 2024) – The Pulaski Community School District celebrated a momentous occasion with the groundbreaking ceremony for Hillcrest Elementary School's expansion and renovation project. This marks the beginning of a construction renovation and addition project that will double the size of the school and create a modern learning environment for students.
EXPANDED AMENITIES FOR A GROWING SCHOOL:
The new and modernized spaces will boast a reconfigured main entry, a new gymnasium, a cafeteria, an updated kitchen, a welcoming courtyard, an indoor play area, additional classrooms and more. The project is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2025.
CELEBRATING COMMUNITY AND GROWTH:
The Pulaski Drumline kicked off the festivities, welcoming Hillcrest staff, parents, students and community members, all sporting C.D. Smith Construction hard hats at the site of the future courtyard. The program featured remarks from key individuals, including Superintendent Allison Space and Hillcrest Elementary Principal Kris Wells. The ceremony culminated in a symbolic turning of the dirt.
ADDRESSING GROWING NEEDS:
Principal Wells highlighted the critical need for the expansion, stating that the student body has nearly doubled in size over the past twelve years. The project will address this growth by adding approximately 61,700 square feet to the school. Here's a breakdown of some of the facility and site improvements:
- A designated main entry with pick-up/drop-off lanes for improved traffic flow.
- A new cafeteria conveniently located next to the main entry.
- Additional classrooms and renovations to existing ones to provide a more modern learning environment.
- A dedicated courtyard for 4K and kindergarten students.
- An indoor play area for year-round physical activity.
- A brand new gymnasium for enhanced physical education programs.
- A new library occupying the former gymnasium space.
- An innovation hub adjacent to the library, fostering creativity and collaboration.
These improvements will significantly enhance the school's capacity, allowing it to serve the growing Pulaski community. Superintendent Space expressed her gratitude to the community for their support and for recognizing the importance of providing students with the space they need to learn, explore and thrive.
We're thrilled to partner with Pulaski Community School District and Bray Architects to bring this vision to life!
