In time for the 2026 season, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders transformed Herr-Baker Field into one of Wisconsin’s premier baseball facilities.

A new field for the 2026 season

The centerpiece is a new 142,000-square-foot turf playing surface, the largest turf baseball field in the state, spanning the infield, outfield, warning tracks and bullpens to improve playability and player safety. C.D. Smith Construction served as general contractor, overseeing construction and site management for the turf installation, new fencing, upgraded backstops and netting, concrete pavement, a new pavilion and extensive grading and subsurface drainage improvements designed to enhance field performance in all weather conditions.

Bringing fans closer to the action

The renovated ballpark also delivers an upgraded game-day experience for fans, with a new covered hospitality area and field-level patio tables along both baselines that bring spectators closer to the action. New premium netting extends 30 feet high in front of fixed seating and patio areas, providing greater safety while remaining thinner and less obstructive for clearer views.

As the Dock Spiders celebrate their 10th season, the modernized Herr-Baker Field is ready to serve players, fans and the greater Fond du Lac community.
