Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to building and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children in need. Their motto: No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!®
When we learned that 5% of children in Fond du Lac County (6,205 kids) experience “bed-lessness,” we knew we had to step up. Building the future is at the heart of what we do at C.D. Smith. That’s why we knew this was a cause we could wrap our hearts and hammers around.
Earlier this year, C.D. Smith employees, family, friends and SHP volunteers came together for a Bed Build Day. The team’s goal was to build 50 beds, and they exceeded that goal by making 72 beds!
“This event was incredibly successful,” says Karla Breister, SHP Community Liaison. “Thank you to C.D. Smith for sponsoring and to all of the volunteers who have enabled us to get 72 more children off the floor in Fond du Lac.”
As we enter the season of giving, we believe all children should feel safe, loved and have a bed. That’s why C.D. Smith is donating to SHP chapters in the following Wisconsin markets this holiday season.
• De Pere
• Fond du Lac
• La Crosse
• Madison
• Racine/Kenosha
• Waukesha
This winter, we look forward to our second Bed Build Day and have lofty ambitions to get more children off the floor and into a warm bed.
