Ranked among the top ten veterinary medical schools in the country, the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine has graduated over 2,500 veterinarians, performed tens of thousands of patient visits annually and generated vital research in both veterinary and human medicine. As these programs continue to grow, the university embarked on a significant expansion and renovation of the original building. The goal is to ensure clinical services, research discoveries and the training of tomorrow’s veterinarians and scientists to maintain a trajectory of excellence into the future.
A view from the sky shows the new three-story facility. The new building is connected to the existing animal clinic, providing additional space for research, animal biosafety, laboratories, offices, conference rooms and shared collaboration spaces. Expanded clinical space will increase access to small and large animal isolation suites and the number of specialized surgery environments. The expanded space will accommodate imaging for horses and cattle and separate patient access to medical oncology services. Additional space will support administrative and educational functions such as student work centers, diagnostics, treatment planning, medical record updates, client communications and classrooms.
C.D. Smith is serving as the general contractor for the project scheduled to be completed in late 2024.
